THE HISTORY OF THE GUILD

Malcolm Terry, Jackie Tanner, Rik Mills, John Marriott and Ann Eatwell have all been to Austria for several years to compete in the European Body Painting Festival and then the World Body Painting Festival and found that body painting was a wonderful way to express creativity in an art form. In the beginning there were only the 5 of us in the British contingent.

Malcolm, Jak and Ann along with Mark and Victoria Dennis and Juliet Eve decided that a UK Festival would spread the word and had a small ‘starter’ festival at Malcolm’s Salon in Ramsgate to see how it would be received. This small but quality group of body paintings was received with much interest so we looked for a venue where a festival could be held. Tony and Doreen Hartigan of the Farriers Arms in Mersham Ashford told us they were happy for us to have their field in return for a donation to the local Pilgrims Hospice. The festival was too big a job for just one person and so we asked for interested parties to come on board and donate their skills and so the Guild was formed.

At the moment there are 14 Guild members.
